Meet The Team
Joanna and Sabeha met in May 2016 at St Hilda’s East Community Centre and came up with a crazy idea to start a shoe company…
Sabeha has worked at St Hilda’s for 12 years, leading women’s community projects and working to reduce social barriers for marginalised women. Joanna has worked as a journalist, events organiser and marketing assistant for very short periods of time, and nearly went to medical school before she realised she’d prefer to be making shoes. They both love crafts and complaining about the weather.

Since working with this wonderful team of women, I have gained so much confidence and feel much happier. I gave up employment after my first child as it didn’t work around my family commitments, since then I have looked for employment and failed. Working with Juta Shoes is great. They’re flexible around mine and my family’s needs. They’re welcoming and understanding, and there’s always a positive vibe around the table whilst working. |

My hobbies and interests lie in creativity, making and designing items for all purposes. My favourite items to make and design are clothing so when I was first introduced to Juta Shoes I didn’t hesitate to take up the opportunity. Being a mother of three kids, it has not been easy to work and look after my young family at the same time but Juta Shoes allows me to do that and gives me great pleasure. |
